This has come with pros and cons, but for many businesses, it has meant a cut in costs while effective working still continues. Again, it is likely some businesses will continue with virtual working after the pandemic subsides.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>So if employees are more likely to be working from home in\r\nthe future, there is a greater amount of online buying and the demand for\r\ncouriers is filled, why do some commentators suggest that home deliveries could\r\nbe problematic?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Couriers\r\nand home deliveries<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This assumption is based on the idea that if people are working from home there are more likely to be failed deliveries. The latter is more likely to occur in residential settings than in business settings where it is rare. It also begs the question: will deliveries be cheaper? Businesses tend to be located in enclosed areas such as on High Streets or <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/accountlearning.com\/industrial-estates-meaning-features-objectives-types\/\" target=\"_blank\">Industrial estates<\/a> \u2013 couriers delivering to residential estates or rural areas may face increased fuel costs and delivery times. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who will take the delivery?<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>There is also the fact that people in a workplace will\r\ndefinitely be available to take deliveries whereas the home situation is more\r\nhit and miss. So, if it\r\nmeans employees will work from home more, then the way in which they work from\r\nhome must be refined \u2013 and not just be hit and miss as perhaps it was during\r\nlockdown. This may mean a need for employers and managers to set out clear\r\nworking patterns when employees are not in the office. In this way it will be\r\nexpected they will be in the accepted working environment (their home) to\r\nreceive home deliveries within specific times.
